| Marking System: |
|
|
|
The marking system employed by this site is weighted differently to most other marking schemes. It does give a simple mark out of 10. However, most systems that mark out of 10 have 7 as the dividing line where, very simplistically, 7 is worth seeing and 6 isn't. We don't follow this, as this gives just 7-10 to differentiate every film above this line. Therefore, we use 5 as for this divider. Schemes that give a mark out of less than 10 do not give sufficient scope to differential between all films.
The precise meaning of each mark, as given by this site's reviewers, is detailed below: |
| Mark | Meaning |
| 10 | Simply perfect. Cannot be improved. |
| 9 | Superb. One of the best films ever made. |
| 8 | Excellent. A must see film |
| 7 | A very good film. |
| 6 | Good. Worth going to cinema for. |
| 5 | Decent. Worth watching. |
| 4 | OK. Worth watching if you're a fan of the genre/actor/director. |
| 3 | Poor. Simply not good enough |
| 2 | Bad. Not worth seeing. |
| 1 | Awful. A waste of time and money. |
| 0 | Diabolical. No redeeming features at all. |
